We believe your focus is your most valuable asset. Our tools are designed to help you reclaim your time, not exploit it. We do not actively collect, store, or transmit personally identifiable information from your device. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Information Collection

To provide core focus features, our applications may require access to certain information on your device:

• • Usage Statistics: We track which applications are in the foreground to enforce your intentionality limits. This data is processed in real-time and remains strictly on your device.
• • Installed Packages: We query installed applications to allow you to categorize them as "Distracting" or "Essential."
• • Notification Metadata: To silence distracting alerts, we check the sender application name. We never read, store, or transmit the actual content of your notifications.
• • Location Data (Optional): Coarse location is used to fetch local weather. Your coordinates are sent to MET Norway to retrieve the forecast but are never stored or used for tracking.

2. Data Usage

All data processing regarding app usage and habits happens locally on your device. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.

• • To enforce focus sessions and provide real-time friction.
• • To display usage insights and "saved time" metrics.
• • To provide a simplified, distraction-free home environment.

3. Data Storage and Security

Usage history and notes are stored in a secure local database. We do not use cloud sync for user-generated content or history.

4. Important Permissions

To function as intended, Absent requires specific system roles:

• • Launcher Role: To serve as your primary home screen.
• • Usage Access: To detect when distracting apps are opened.
• • Overlay Permission: To display the intentionality timer over other apps.
• • Notification Access: To silence distracting alerts during focus sessions.

5. Your Control & Deletion

We respect your right to be forgotten. You have full control over your local history:

• • In-App Clear: You can wipe all usage history and thoughts anytime in the Historical Data section of Settings.
• • Uninstallation: Uninstalling the app permanently removes the local database and all associated records from your hardware.
• • Request Deletion: You may request the deletion of your device-linked usage data by emailing us.
